FAQs

  • All sessions are provided via HIPAA compliant video conferencing system for your convenience. Working with The College Psychiatrists is right for you if:

    • You live in TX, MA, IL, CA, FL, or NY

    • You maintain regular contact with a primary care doctor or therapist (if seeking medication only)

  • TCPs can prescribe these medications, when appropriate, to students living or attending college in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. If you are living outside of this area, we are happy to collaborate with your primary care physician to make recommendations for treating these conditions.

  • TCPs are excited to meet you and learn more about how to help. Prior to your initial 15-minute consultation, complete the Welcome! Initial Consultation form in the patient portal. This will help us make the best use of our time.

  • To get ready for our first appointment do the following in the patient portal.

    1. Complete the Adult Initial Evaluation form

    2. Read and sign the Practice Policies and Consent form

    3. Complete and sign the Release of Information form. Please be sure to include the name of your existing/former therapist, psychiatrist, and primary care doctor. If you’re comfortable, include the name of your parent/guardian for the purpose of gathering information.

    4. Upload your most recent neuropsychological testing report and/or Individual Education Plan (IEP), if you have them.

  • TCPs will only speak with your parents with your written permission in the form of a Release of Information. It is always helpful to get information about your early life from your parent or guardian. There may be things you don’t remember about your birth history or childhood that can be helpful in understanding who you are. In the process of gathering this information, The College Psychiatrists will not disclose any of your confidential information to your parents.

  • TCPs will only communicate with parents if your student has given written permission in the form of a Release of Information. Once permission is granted, TCPs will meet with parents as a part of the initial evaluation process to gather information about the student’s early life. If your student consents, TCPs will provide quarterly updates about progress.

  • We provide direct care to patients which allows for privacy and flexibility in treatment planning and scheduling. Your diagnoses will remain private. We can meet with the frequency that is right for you. For these reasons, We do not participate in insurance plans. All major credit cards are accepted, and patients are responsible for all covered and non-covered expenses.

After each visit, we provide a Superbill, which can be sent to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You can contact your insurance company to determine if they provide “Out-of-Network Benefits” for the following codes:

    Initial evaluation: 90792
